Free Pattern Friday: Pascal the Otter (Old Version)

Welcome to the second edition of Free Pattern Friday, where every Friday I upload a pattern for free, usually ones that are older or could use some improvement. This week's pattern is a 7" tall amigurumi of Pascal the Otter from Animal Crossing.

If you follow my work, you may know that I already have a Pascal pattern on my blog (and Ravelry). This is basically a prototype for that pattern. I decided after finishing this amigurumi that his face didn't really capture the cuteness of Pascal, so I made a new version. Here's a comparison:

Old version on the left, new one on the right

While I do prefer the new pattern, I think the old pattern could be adjusted to make a cute regular otter, or maybe some other animal like a bear or something. I bet you could even turn him into a construction worker; I definitely get a construction worker vibe when looking at him. I think it's the hat. Anyway, happy crocheting and TGIF!

Assembly
See pictures above if you need help with placement
I have also included a diagram of the head to help with the placement of the chin and cheeks

Sew the chin onto the head
Sew the cheeks in front of the chin, leaving only a small triangle of the chin showing
▪  Use medium brown yarn to embroider a nose between the top of the cheeks
▪  Use medium brown yarn to embroider a moustache onto the cheeks
▪  Use light brown yarn to embroider a mouth under the cheeks
▪  Use black yarn to embroider eyebrows above the eyes
▪  Sew the brim of the hat around the head, above the eyebrows
▪  Use light brown yarn to embroider lines around the hat and hat brim
▪  Sew the ears on either side of the head
▪  Sew the body onto the bottom of the head
▪  Sew the overall straps on either side of the body
▪  Use grey yarn to embroider strap buckles onto the body
▪  Sew the arms on either side of the body
▪  Use black yarn to embroider toes onto the feet
▪  Sew the feet onto the bottom of the legs
▪  Sew the legs onto the body, underneath the strap buckles
